This course opened a window into the different kinds of content that exist in the digital world. The course was extensive and included exercises. The course was professional and abundant with tools. But most of all, and most importantly, it was generous. COVID-19 struck a hard blow to the publishing world, and as a translator, I quickly realized that localization is the only profession that can guarantee my livelihood. I was worried, but Versio Academy's course alleviated all of my concerns. Apart from the practical knowledge and tools I received, I was awarded the biggest gift right after the course was completed. As a recent graduate of the December 2019 localization course, I wrote about the practical tools I had received. I am happy to report that six months after completing the course, I am already working on many localization and translation projects for leading companies in Israel and overseas. \nI work on a wide range of projects in different areas \u2013 product pages, fashion and sports blogs, websites and marketing materials for the food and delivery sectors, translation and QA for global companies, and more. There are no shortcuts \u2013 success stems from the professional training I received at Versio Academy, and from the tools and methodologies I acquired during the course. I began the localization course with a background in content writing, with the occasional dabble in English-to-Hebrew translation. When the pandemic began and the workplace market began to change, I came to the conclusion that I should upgrade my professional skillset and acquire additional skills that complement my translation capabilities. At the course, I was exposed to a new professional world that I never knew existed, and I realized that the field of translation is changing, and that I should be prepared for these changes. This is where the course came in. Racheli, Bracha, Liat and Gal invested a great deal of effort in providing me with tools for completing common translation missions, and widened my horizons regarding UX and micro-copy, which are not only meaningful for localization, but for digital content writing as well. Using the knowledge I acquired, I accepted translation projects towards the end of the course, in areas I never worked in before. One of the good things I chose to do for myself during the pandemic is to participate in Versio Academy's localization course. This course opened a new world of translation and propelled me towards the digital translation field. As a translator, as soon as a saw the localization course ad on Facebook, I began to get excited. When Racheli called to explain about the course, she went into great detail and said that the course opens many doors for translators \u2013 and she was right! The course is interesting and detailed, the teachers and excellent (and charming) and the exercises prepare you for real assignments \u2013 and I mean it. I never internalized how many layers of knowledge hide in a sentence conjured by translation software, until I learned how to look at it properly and to watch out for \"traps\" that can appear if you don't know how to interpret all the surrounding data. Here's a warm recommendation for anyone who works in (or wants to work in) translation, editing and localization: This week I completed a localization course at Versio Academy \u2013 the first localization school in Israel. In my eyes, localization is translation's next evolutionary step, so I decided to learn how to fit in. In the beginning, I was concerned that I may be paying for a course that would teach me things that I already know, but I quickly found out that the teaching staff is very experienced and has a lot to teach me. I logged on to Versio Academy's website in search of a course that can teach me an evolving and profitable profession. Because I used to perform translation and localization tasks on a non-professional level, it felt fitting to learn a relatively new profession that is in demand by experienced businesspeople in Israel and overseas. The course was very interesting and the four lecturers \u2013 Racheli, Gal, Liat and Bracha \u2013 were very professional. These are Israel's top translators and there is a lot that can be learned from them. In addition, the course also addresses marketing writing, micro-copy and UX\/UI, which are relevant to all content-based assignment. I had wanted to enter the field of localization for quite a while. I tried an internet course and several work assignments but they weren't what I was looking for. I knew I wanted to learn from professionals, who understand the nuances of the localization profession and could also give me practical work-related tips. At the localization course orientation, I realized I had come to the right place. Due to excellent, professional and patient teachers, as well as hands-on exercises, I learned the localization profession the way it was meant to be learned. I was flooded with work offers while still enrolled in the course, and the information we received from the experienced translators was priceless. Localization is a much wider discipline than translation, with different contexts and accentuations. You need to learn to think differently, learn new concepts, establish different client relationships and treat readers differently (hint: they don't like to read). And today?
